The Rector of the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (IITH), Yenagoa, Professor Apuega R. Arikawei, joined other heads of tertiary institutions, distinguished guests, and well-wishers at the Maiden Combined Convocation Ceremony of Bayelsa Polytechnic, Aleibiri, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey.
The historic event brought together members of the academic community, government officials, alumni, parents, and graduating students in celebration of the Polytechnic’s achievements and contributions to technical and vocational education in Bayelsa State.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the management, staff, and students of the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, Professor Arikawei congratulated the Rector of Bayelsa Polytechnic, Dr. Wisdom Clinton Soreh, the institution’s management, staff, and graduating students on the successful hosting of the convocation ceremony.
He commended the Polytechnic for its dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and skills development, noting that such commitments are essential for producing graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development and economic growth.
Professor Arikawei also encouraged the graduating students to remain focused on their aspirations and to uphold the values of hard work, discipline, integrity, and professionalism as they transition into the next phase of their lives and careers.
The IITH Rector further felicitated with the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, who serves as the Visitor to the Polytechnic, for his continued support and commitment to educational advancement in the state. He also extended his congratulations to the entire Bayelsa Polytechnic community for successfully organizing the maiden combined convocation ceremony.
Describing the occasion as a landmark achievement, Professor Arikawei stated that the convocation represents a remarkable step toward strengthening educational growth, institutional development, and human capital advancement in Bayelsa State.
