NPTF Empowers Junior Police Officers' Spouses in Bayelsa with Vocational Starter Packs

The Nigerian Police Trust Fund (NPTF), in collaboration with Precept Technical Multi Link Limited, has concluded its vocational skills acquisition and empowerment training for spouses of junior police officers in Bayelsa State.

The programme, held at the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (IITH), ended with the presentation of starter packs to participants, including sewing machines, pressing irons, hair dryers, towels, and other hairdressing materials.

In his opening remarks, the Rector of Institute, Prof. Apuega Arikawei, congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to maximize the opportunity by becoming self-reliant and employers of labour while supporting their families. He reaffirmed the institute's commitment to providing opportunities for further skills development and appreciated the Nigerian Police Trust Fund for the initiative and continued partnership.

Delivering a goodwill message, Engr. Ibrahim Bawa advised participants not to sell the starter packs but to use them as a foundation for sustainable livelihoods, describing the empowerment as the beginning of greater opportunities.

Also speaking, Dr. Suliman Abba Abubakar of the NPTF said the programme was designed to promote a safer, crime-free society through economic empowerment. He thanked God for the successful event and commended the Bayelsa State Police Command for its support.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, ACP Ebi Oweimo Perabo encouraged participants to use the cash support provided to secure workspaces and immediately begin practicing their newly acquired skills, warning against selling the starter packs.

The event featured testimonials from participants, who expressed gratitude for the life-changing opportunity.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Suliman Abba Abubakar appreciated the Commissioner of Police, the institute's management, facilitators, and all stakeholders for ensuring the program's success, while urging beneficiaries to make productive use of the equipment.

The Deputy Rector while delivering the vote thanks also encouraged participants to extend the program's impact by creating employment opportunities for others.

The training underscores the Nigerian Police Trust Fund's commitment to empowering police families and promoting economic independence through vocational education.
